Rossi and Lorenzo talk 23 point title gap

The MotoGP title momentum has shifted once again towards Valentino Rossi. After finishing fifth at his home Grand Prix at Misano, the Italian stretched his lead over championship rival, Jorge Lorezno, with the Spaniard not scoring points after crashing out of contention.

Lorenzo had the pace all weekend to win the race but with the mixed conditions on Sunday he was caught out and crashed on his first lap with slick tyres on a drying track.

“We have to be positive, there is no point to complain or regret anything,” said Lorenzo. ” Now it’s 23 points, but during this year we previously recovered 29 points in four races. So it’s possible that can happen again, or that Valentino can make some mistakes. For sure he will have some pressure, because now he has more to lose than to win. I have much less to lose than especially Silverstone but also here. To be honest in the dry conditions I feel ready to fight for the victory”

For Rossi the podium was the target and after seeing his season long podium run finally end he was disappointed but overall pleased with the outcome.

“For sure in Misano, in front of all these people and this special atmosphere, arriving on the podium was the target,” said the Italian. “But, from the other side, with the crash of Jorge, I extend my lead by eleven points and this is the most important thing. For the championship it is a great and important result.”
