Espargaro and Crutchlow make it through to Q2

Aleix Espargaro and Cal Crutchlow made it through to Q2 after an exciting opening qualifying session of the afternoon. Both riders narrowly edged out Scott Redding with the Marc VDS rider missing out by two tenths of a second on a spot in Q2.

It was always going to be a challenge for the two British riders with the Suzuki’s of Espargaro and Maverick Vinales armed with the soft tyres. Crutchlow however was able to make it through after a terrific lap that saw him all but negate the advantage of the soft tyre for Espargaro.

Loris Baz was the leading Open bike just ahead of Jack Miller.
