Pole for Antonelli in Malaysia

1 of 1

Niccolo Antonelli took his third career pole position by leading the way in qualifying at Sepang. There was plenty of excitement at  Malaysian track with riders complaining and visibly upset to be blocked on their hot laps or have to accept other rivals following them around.

Danny Kent was one of the most upset riders with the Englishman even taking the extreme solution of diving back into pitlane to try and generate some space on track. it worked to an extent and Kent was able to get into a group of four riders on his final lap and was able to qualify sixth fastest.

Miguel Oliviera, the only other rider who can win the title, will start third on the grid with the KTM rider having looked strong throughout the weekend.

John McPhee, who had a big crash in this morning’s session was 12th fastest.
