Marquez fastest but Lorenzo lays down marker

Marc Marquez was fastest in morning warmup bu the speed and consistency of Jorge Lorenzo will leave the championship contender confident that he can have a momentum shifting result today. With Valentino Rossi sixth, and having struggled for most of the weekend, Lorenzo will start the race in prime position to take a decisive chunk out of Rossi’s 18 point title lead.

Having towed behind Lorenzo yesterday Andrea Iannone once again placed himself behind the Spaniard and set the third fastest time of the morning.

Bradley Smith ran off on his first lap of the day with the Tech3 rider losing rear grip on the entry and entering the pit lane straight away.
