Rabat sees off season to forget with Valencia win

Tito Rabat has held off Alex Rins to take victory in the final Moto2 race of 2015 at Valencia, ending the season on a high after a year of bad luck and injury for the defending champion.

Rabat was able to make a good break early in the race after a first-lap red flag forced a second go at getting off the line. Pulling clear of the chasing Rins, even a late charge from the second Spaniard wasn’t enough to close down the gap to the MarcVDS rider.

Thomas Luthi rode to the final podium spot, finishing just ahead of Baldassarri despite a late attempt from him, while Sam Lowes achieved his pre-race finish to take fifth on his last outing on the Speed-Up machine.

Luis Salom was sixth, while a poor start for new champion Johann Zarco meant the best he was capable of at the flag was seventh, ahead of Pons, Corsi and Kallio.
