Updated: 08 November 2015
Britain may have had a long wait since the last time a home rider wore a Grand Prix World Championship crown – since Barry Sheene won the 500GP title in 1977, in fact – but the 21 year old nonetheless joins an illustrious list of champions.
Led by the legendary Mike ‘the Bike’ Hailwood with his nine titles, Kent also joins the likes of John Surtees and Phil Read, with seven each, and Geoff Duke on six.
