Lack of feel holding back Lorenzo

Jorge Lorenzo wound up with the fourth fastest time on Day Two of the Qatar test but afterwards the double MotoGP champion was disappointed with the handling of his Yamaha M1 and surprised to have been unable to match the pace of Marc Marquez over a single lap.

Having enjoyed a strong start to the season with positive results in the Sepang tests Lorenzo came to the desert expecting to be able to lay down a marker on “a track that should, in theory, suit us better than Sepang.”

When speaking with MCN about the problems that he was having it was clear that there was not one single area that he could pinpoint as the issue. Rear grip continues to be a problem for the Spaniard but it’s a general lack of feel that hurt him:

“We haven’t found any big problems but we aren’t getting a good feeling to be able to go fast,” said Lorenzo. “We’ve tried many things and it’s improved a little but the track improved so everyone got faster. We will need to be consistent and try many things because we can’t give up. We’re four tenths off the pace we should be.”

With rain having hit the Circuit of Losail this afternoon getting any running on the final day of pre-season is highly unlikely.
