Zarco wins again

Johann Zarco extended his Moto2 championship lead to 45 points from Tito Rabat after a well judged victory in a shortened Dutch TT. The race was reduced to 16 laps after a crash at the start by Luis Salom left oil on the racing line.

When it was restarted Zarco made a poor start but fought his way through the leading group to take the lead from Rabat at the hairpin. The victory was Zarco’s third of the season and showed again why he is the man to beat in the intermediate class.

Sam Lowes made a poor start and fell to sixth but was able to slice his way through the group to claim third at the flag. Having finished fourth for the last three races it was crucial for Lowes to get back on the podium. The Speed Up rider was hampered somewhat by the shortened race because it takes longer for the tyres on his bike to switch on at the start of a race and that handed his rivals an advantage in the opening three laps.
