New ten year contract for Qatar

Dorna has today announced that they have extended their agreement with Qatar by a further ten years for the desert race to continue to host the season opening race under the lights of the Losail International Circuit.

In a joint announcement this morning in Montmelo QMMF President Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Attiyah and Dorna Sports CEO Mr Carmelo Ezpeleta with the Qatari saying:

“We are very excited about continuing our partnership with MotoGP™ and securing our place in the calendar for another decade. The night race is a spectacular event that we’re proud to host and we aim to keep perfecting this partnership.”

Ezpeleta has always spoke of the importance of having a presence in the middle east and with the season closing round of the WSBK also taking place in Losail the links between the two are becoming stronger and stronger.

“Since its first edition in 2004, the Qatar GP became a trademark of the MotoGP World Championship and continues to provide a unique set-up for racing, so we’re pleased to seal this agreement and extend our relationship beyond 2016,” said Ezpeleta. “Losail International Circuit always creates a magic atmosphere and the brotherhood of the two companies has grown throughout the years.”
