Ajo's incredible escape!

Niki Ajo channeled his inner Randy Mamola at Assen after an incredible last lap save saw the Finn roll across the finish line alongside his Moto3 machine.

Having ridden his bucking KTM across the line and somehow avoided a crash the cheers from the crowd were almost as loud for Ajo as they were later in the afternoon when Rossi won the MotoGP race.

While Ajo was receiving plenty of attention for the near miss he was mostly disappointed to have not finished inside the top seven after a very strong performance.

“I just pushed a little bit too much in the corner,” said the Finn. “I wanted to just close my eyes and hope I didn’t hit the wall. I didn’t think of anything else! I was just concentrating on saving myself. I was sure I would hit the wall but I’m just disappointed to lose the chance of seventh position.”
