Kent focusing on the race and not his future

Danny Kent claimed second on the grid in what could be a very important qualifying session for the Moto3 world championship. With Kent on the front row and his chief title rival, Enea Bastianini, on the fifth row the stage is set for Kent to stretch his title lead considerably in tomorrow’s Czech Grand Prix.

“I was happy with qualifying today and it would have been nice to take pole position but the most important thing is the race tomorrow. I feel that our pace can be really quick, low 2m08’s, and that I can break away from the pack. The field is close here but I think that I can open to the rest tomorrow and if they start fighting with each I can pull away.”

Kent has done well to avoid being distracted by the speculation regarding his future. With a three year offer on the table from Pramac Ducati he could be forgiven for taking his eye off the ball but instead he’s been sharp all weekend and ready for action. When asked about the challenge of focusing on the job at hand this weekend Kent simply said, “I’m here to do a job so my main focus is on winning tomorrow’s race.”
