First career win for Antonelli

1 of 1

Niccolo Antonelli collected the first victory of his career at Brno after consolidating his pole position to take a well deserved win. The Italian led home a nine man group at the front of the field but did enough on the last lap to open a gap and finish comfortably ahead of Enea Bastianini and Brad Binder.

Following a big crash on lap one the race was restarted as a 12 lap sprint to the flag and Danny Kent finished eighth to have his title lead reduced to 45 points. The Englishman had no fresh soft tyre to start the race and felt this cost him any chance of the win.

John McPhee collected his fourth top ten of the year after a solid ride that was “at the limit for every lap.” With the soft tyre he felt the rear giving way throughout and eased off for a comfortable six points.
