Mugello MotoGP: Marquez romps to pole

Marc Marquez continues to break records, setting the fastest time in Qualifying 1 at Mugello to take his sixth pole position from six races in 2014.

The reigning champion set a best time of 1:47.270.

Pramac Ducati rider Andrea Iannone was the big surprise of the afternoon, putting his Ducati second on the grid. A huge improvement on his previous best qualifying result of eighth.

Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo completes the front row in third.

Team-mate Valentino Rossi, who was expected to go well at his home track struggled during qualifying, languishing down in 10th ahead of Alvaro Bautista and Aleix Espargaro.

Dani Pedorsa heads the second row ahead of Pol Espargaro and Cal Crutchlow.
