Qatar MotoGP: Rabat on Moto2 pole

Kalex rider Esteve Rabat has clinched pole position with a fastest time of 2’00.081 at the Losail circuit – the fastest ever Moto2 lap of the track.

World Supersport champion Sam Lowes surprised the paddock, setting the fifth fastest time less than half a second behind Rabat.

2012 Moto3 champion Sandro Cortese secured his first front row start in Moto2 with the second fastest time before crashing after the chequered flag. Cortese’s bike ended up on the track, with Mika Kallio colliding with the bike.
