Catalunya Moto3: Marquez eases to victory

Spaniard Alex Marquez secured his second Moto3 victory in dominant fashion after his team-mate was forced to retire.

Alex Rins led the early stages of the race by a comfortable margin before he was forced to retire with a mechanical issue. Team-mate Marquez made the most of Rins’ bad look and eased from the rest of the field, crossing the line 3.236 secs ahead of second place.

Second place went to Enea Bastianini onboard the GO&FUN machine, with Efren Vasquez claiming the final step on the podium.

Jack Miller, who qualified a lowly ninth, battled back to claim fourth place after struggling with chatter throughout the weekend.

Brit John McPhee was unable to replicate the form which saw him lead the previous race at Mugello. The Honda rider was only able to manage a ninth place finish with fellow Brit Danny Kent crossing the line in 17th and out of the points.
