Sachsenring Moto2: Aegerter steals pole

Swiss rider Dominique Aegerter took his first Moto2 pole position at Sachsenring on Saturday with a best time of 1’24.761.

Aegerter took pole position from Marc VDS rider Mika Kallio in the dying moments of the session by just over a tenth of a second.

Tito Rabat, team-mate to Kallio, was unable to put his Kalex machine on the front of the grid and will start the race from third.

Last year’s winner at the Sachsenring Jordi Torres will head the second row in fourth place ahead of an impressive Franco Morbidelli and Simone Corsi.

The third row consists of Frenchman Johann Zarco on the Caterham machine, Thomas Luthi and Alex de Angelis.

Brit Sam Lowes was unable to replicate the form that saw hime lead last time out at Assen. The Speed Up rider will start from 26th on the grid ahead of Gino Rea in 27th.

Coincidentally Anthony West, who won at Assen, will start just ahead of Lowes in 25th.
