Marc VDS ends Jack Miller pursuit – legal battle to follow?

Aussie sensation Jack Miller might end up in a bitter legal battle before he ends up in MotoGP in 2015.

Lawyers acting on behalf of the Belgium-based Marc VDS Racing squad are now dealing with its long-running contract saga with current Moto3 world championship leader Miller.

Marc VDS Racing boss Michael Bartholemy has been adamant the current Moto3 world championship leader was obliged to honour a pre-contract agreement with the Belgium-based squad to ride a Kalex machine in Moto2 in 2015 and 2016.

Miller and his management though have constantly denied the agreement is still binding, while the 19-year-old has been linked with a shock fast track promotion from Moto3 to MotoGP in 2015.

Miller looks certain to secure a production Honda RCV1000R ride next to Cal Crutchlow at LCR Honda, with a deal potentially to be wrapped up this weekend in Brno.

Marc VDS Racing boss Bartholemy conceded in Indianapolis last weekend that Miller would definitely not be joining current Moto2 world championship leader Tito Rabat in 2015.

The pre-contract has been terminated, but that doesn’t appear to be the end of the matter, which has dragged on for weeks.

Bartholemy told MCN: “The situation is that Jack is not coming to our team. He decided not to come. Now it is basically not so much in my hands but our lawyer has to care of this matter now. I think in the next weeks or months something will be sorted.”

Bartholemy said he was disappointed that a potential deal with Miller, who has won four races to lead the Moto3 series by 21-points, had gone sour.

The former factory Kawasaki MotoGP boss added: “I am disappointed because last year we took him under contract and he wanted to come to Moto2 with Marc VDS and when you see all the stories from him and Aki (Ajo – Miller’s KTM team and personal manager) in the press it is frustrating.

“They know what they signed but in the end it is their decision. Now for me the story is finished and I wish him good luck.”
