Texas Moto3: Vasquez goes fastest on day one

Efren Vazquez has topped the time sheets on the opening day of practice in Texas, taking his Saxoprint RTG Honda to provisional pole position ahead of Jack Miller on the Red Bull KTM Ajo and Isaac Viñales by 0.129 seconds, after finishing the opening practice second to ALex Rins.

Rins finished the day back in fifth, behind Jakub Kornfeil, but with the pair well over half a second off the 2’16.696 lap of Vazquez late in the session.

JOhn McPhee, who spent most of the session inside the top ten, finished out another strong day to finish twelth overall, but fellow Brit Danny Kent struggled, going faster in the second session but still slipping back to nineteenth.

There were crashes for Karel Hanika, Scott Deroue and Matteo Ferrari but all escaped unharmed.
