Texas Moto2: Zarco tops both sessions

Johann Zarco has topped both opening sessions at the Circuit of the Americas, as he bounces back from his opening lap crash at Qatar on the British Caterham Suter machine, ahead of Dominique Aegerter by 0.061.

Zarco’s best time of 2’10.839 put him ahead of his rivals, with only Aegerter able to get within 0.25s of the pace man. Aegerter had crashed with Ricky Cardus early in FP2 but both escaped major injury.

Tito Rabat was third, 0.3 back on Zarco on the MarcVDS Kalex, ahead of 2013 Moto3 champion Maverick Vinales on a second Kalex, while Belgian Xavier Simeon came through to sixth.

The British pair of Sam Lowes and Gino Rea were 19th and 20th, both suffering from mechanical problems through the final session, but still only a second and a half off the pole man.
