Phillip Island MotoGP: Espargaro on pole

Moto2 championship hopeful Pol Espargaro will start from pole position in Phillip Island with championship rivals Esteve Rabat and Scott Redding both crashing out.

Redding has been ruled out of the race with a suspected left wrist fracture.

Rabat will start from second on the grid, with Jordi Torres completing an all Spanish front row in third.

Alex De Angelis heads the second row ahead of Thomas Luthi and Mika Kallio.
