Scott Redding excited to work with ex-Stoner crew chief

Scott Redding believes Casey Stoner’s former crew chief Cristian Gabbarini could prove to be a key ally in his rookie MotoGP world championship campaign in 2014.

Gabbarini is now heading up Honda’s new RCV1000R production racer project after the Italian quit Ducati with Stoner to move to HRC in 2011.

Gabbarini was a key influence in the Australian’s successful career and he was at Stoner’s side for both his MotoGP titles at Ducati in 2007 and HRC in 2011.

Gloucestershire rider Redding will ride an RCV1000R in the Italian-based Gresini squad in 2014 and he is thrilled that an engineer with Gabbarini’s experience and calibre is going to be so closely involved in the production racer project.

Redding told MCN: “I am really happy about that. I think we can have good communication with him and my crew chief Diego (Gubellini) and I think with those guys in my corner we can have a strong package.

“It will be amazing to work with him (Gabbarini) and I know he can teach me a lot because he has worked with the best guys and he really knows what he is talking about.”
