Catalunya Moto2: Espargaro takes pole, Redding second

1 of 1

Pol Espargaro took pole in a largely uneventful Moto2 qualifying session at Catalunya today, 0.619 ahead of British championship leader Scott Redding.

Espargaro set the lap around half way through the session, and no one was able to pull down the gap in the remaining time.

The local rider’s Tuenti HP 40 teammate Tito Rabat was third, only 0.047 adrift of Redding. Takaai Nakagami was fourth, rounding off a Kalex dominationq.

Alex de Angelis was fifth on his NGM Mobike Forward Racing Speed Up machine, ahead of a slew of Suters, including Zarco, Torres and Krummenacher.

Sandro Cortese was ninth ahead of Thomas Luthi, who could do no better despite showing potential in practice.

Danny Kent was in 18th, just ahead of fellow Brit Kyle Smith in 18th after a crash towards the end of the session.
