Neck injury relief for Cal Crutchlow

1 of 1

Cal Crutchlow will finally undergo surgery on his broken left collarbone today having learned he has no neck injury as a result of his high-speed crash during qualifying for last weekend’s British Grand Prix.

The Monster Yamaha Tech 3 Team rider broke his collarbone in four places when he fell heavily at the second corner in the early stages of Saturday’s qualifying session.
The Coventry rider was also told he had a suspected non-displacement fracture of his C2 vertebrae.

But further CAT scans yesterday (Monday) at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford showed no damage in his neck, and he plans to have surgery on the collarbone later today.

Until there was a clear diagnosis of his neck injury, Crutchlow was unable to have surgery on the left shoulder and he’s had to lie in a neck brace since he was admitted to hospital on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking exclusively to MCN, Crutchlow said: “I whacked my head really hard and I was dazed but I knew my collarbone had been broken. It has been a nightmare to be honest.”
