Mugello MotoGP: Zarco takes first pole of season

Johann Zarco (Avant-AirAsia-Ajo) qualified fastest in changeable conditions at Mugello to secure his first pole position start of the season, lapping 1.6 seconds faster than RW Racing GP rider Luis Salom who will start in second place.

Sergio Gadea (Blusens by Paris Hilton Racing) completes the front row qualifying in third place, ahead of Efren Vazquez (Avant-AirAsia-Ajo) in fourth and Nicolas Terol (Bankia Aspar Team 125cc) in fifth. Sandro Cortese (Intact-Racing Team Germany) will start from sixth on the grid.

Rain prevented most riders from improving on their times set early in the session, with the majority spending the second half of the qualifying in the pits hoping that the rain would clear.

Maverick Vinales (Blusens by Paris Hilton Racing) will start from seventh, whilst Bankia Aspar Team 125cc team mates Hector Faubel and Adrian Martin complete the third row in eighth and ninth.

Danny Webb (Mahindra Racing) was fastest Brit at the Italian circuit, qualifying in twelth, whilst Harry Stafford (Ongetta-Centro Seta) will start from seventeenth. Phonica Racing rider Taylor Mackenzie qualified in twenty-eighth, two places behind Danny Kent (Red Bull Ajo Motorsport).
