Ben Spies fired up for Laguna Seca, says Yamaha boss

Yamaha is confident Ben Spies can win at least another two races in 2011 after the American broke his MotoGP victory duck in Assen last month.

And factory boss Lin Jarvis has backed Spies to mount a serious threat for victory on home soil in Laguna Seca this weekend.

Jarvis told MCN: “I always said that Ben had the capability to win races this year but I never thought he would win the championship this year. That is a learning process and the competition is tough.

“I believe the boost of winning in Assen will give him the extra shot of confidence that he needs and I won’t be surprised to see another couple of wins this year.  We should look very carefully at Laguna Seca. He has a huge motivation to do something at Laguna and he has a lot of experience there.”
