German MotoGP: Alvaro Bautista stuns Ducati duo

Suzuki’s Alvaro Bautista says he produced the best final lap of his MotoGP career to pass factory Ducati duo Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden.

The Spaniard finished seventh in yesterday’s German MotoGP having come out on top at the end of a race long duel with Rossi and Hayden.

The former 125GP world champion told MCN: “That was a very funny race and the battle with Valentino and Nicky was fantastic. I don’t think I’ve had so much fun on the last lap of a MotoGP race since I came into this class. I was starting from the back so it was difficult in the first corners because this track is so hard to pass on. But I got a good position and when I got behind the top six, I was too far away to follow them and I was losing them.

“I started to fight with Valentino and Nicky and the last lap was incredible. I overtook Valentino in the first corner and I passed Nicky in Turn 12. But I ran a bit wide because the Ducati is very good on the brakes. It was really difficult to overtake them but Nicky passed me back and then I could get him at the last corner when he made a slight mistake and ran off line.”
