Scott Redding heads triple British Moto2 attack

1 of 1

Scott Redding will be hoping to emerge as a serious title threat in 2011 as he heads a three-pronged British challenge in the successful Moto2 class.

The Gloucestershire rider will again ride for the Belgium-based Marc VDS Racing squad and experienced campaigner Mika Kallio will join him as team-mate this year.

Redding enjoyed a brilliant ending to 2010 and claimed podium finishes in Indianapolis and Phillip Island while also producing some outstanding qualifying performances.

But he will not be the lone Brit in the 600cc four-stroke class in 2011 with Bradley Smith moving up from the 125GP class for his first crack in the ultra-competitive Moto2 series.

The 20-year-old will ride for Herve Poncharal’s Tech 3 Racing squad while Scottish rider Kev Coghlan completes the British trio.

He will ride an FTR chassis for the Motorsport 69 squad.

The Moto2 series is awash with young talent with Redding’s title hopes expected to come under fierce opposition from the likes of Thomas Luthi, Alex de Angelis, Andrea Iannone, Kenan Sofuoglu, Julian Simon, Stefan Bradl and reigning 125GP world champion Marc Marquez.
