Estoril MotoGP: First practice washed out

1 of 1

Torrential rain and strong winds meant only eight full laps were completed in this morning’s MotoGP practicr session in Estoril.

With practice restored to four sessions for the final two races of 2010, the extra session saw only Hiroshi Aoyama and Carlos Checa complete full laps as atrocious conditions battered the Portuguese venue.

Aleix Espargaro and Hector Barbera also ventured out on track but pulled in before completing a full lap.

The majority of the field though spent the session sitting in the pits with the likes of new world champion Jorge Lorenzo, Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner never even donning their helmets.

San Carlo Gresini Honda rider Marco Simoncelli started playing cards with his crew to pass the time.

Storms are predicted for the whole day.
