Scott Redding eyes maiden top ten

British rider Scott Redding is hoping to give himself a major boost this weekend having targeted a maiden top ten finish in the Mugello Moto2 class.

Redding scored his first points in the ultra-competitive 600cc four-stroke series last month when he scored a hard fought 11th place in Le Mans.

The 17-year-old Marc VDS Racing rider is now hoping to claim a first top ten at the spectacular Mugello circuit where he tested his Suter MMX machine recently.

Redding, who remains the youngest rider in history to win a Grand Prix, said: “It was good to finally pick up some points in Le Mans, but I was disappointed to finish just outside the top ten.

“We need to be on the pace from the start of the weekend and, having tested at Mugello last month, this is a race where I think we can achieve that.

“I had a couple of days off mountain biking with some of the guys from the team after Le Mans.

“Physically, it was hard work, but it was also good to spend some time with the team away from the racetrack and it means I head for Mugello more determined than ever to repay their faith in me with a top ten finish this weekend.”
