Bradley Smith’s dad proud at Jerez success

Bradley Smith’s dad Allan has spoken of the moment he was an emotional wreck in Jerez – 16 laps before his son Bradley romped to his first 125GP win!

“I was crying my eyes out seven laps in. I couldn’t help it. I was shouting and growling at myself and I only stopped when I told myself to grow up.

“I was in the big tower and nobody knew who I was, and then this woman asked me if I was the father of Bradley, so it must have been pretty obvious, “said Allan.

By the end of the race he was a slightly more composed and relieved figure as he jubilantly celebrated his son’s success. “When he came over the line it was something special.

“I was numb at the end of the race. Bradley has worked unbelievably hard for this moment. I looked for his mum and she was on the other side of the track and she was in tears.

“I think there are a lot of soggy tissues in Jerez. I’m just relieved at the moment. He just needed to win a race and he’s finally done it. I can’t describe how proud I feel.”
