Matt Hoyle makes more progress in Jerez

British rookie Matt Hoyle believes he is making big progress with the unproven Chinese-backed Haojue machine as he concluded the Jerez test in Spain.

The Bradford rider ended with a best time of 1.53.048 and while he finished he last on the overall timesheets he was happy to have made some important progress on the new bike, which features a chassis designed by British experts Harris Performance.

Hoyle, who escaped injury in a crash on the second day, told MCN: “I feel like we have some progress forward with the bike, but the biggest steps have got to come from me. We made the bike better but it is case of me getting faster when the bike has improved.

“Right now I’m not taking advantage of the bike when we have made it better because I’m lacking that bit of experience. I’ve got a lot to learn but I feel like that will come with time. This is the first time I’ve really been out on track with the whole 125 field and I’ve seen and learned a lot.

“It is a bit frustrating not to be a little bit faster but I believe the bike has good potential and with more time we can move further forward.”
