Danny Webb finishes frustrated in Estoril

Danny Webb had a frustrating final day of 125GP testing in Estoril after mechanical problems and high winds disrupted his first test of 2009.

The British teenager was unable to improve on his lap times from the first two days as he could only clock a best of 1.48.680 on the final day.

That was 0.3s slower than his previous best time and the DeGraaf Aprilia rider said: “It wasn’t the best day of the test at Estoril. We struggled in the morning with the set-up of the engine but at the end of the morning we had a good set-up.

Unfortunately the weather changed compared to the two days before. There was a lot of wind today and it is hard to improve your lap time.

“In the afternoon it went better and we worked a lot on the suspension set-up. Two hours before the end of the day we had small engine problem and decided to call it the day. I’m quite happy with this test.

“The bike has a lot of potential. We still have five more days of testing and I can’t wait for next week to ride again during the official IRTA test at Jerez.”

Webb will be back on track next Wednesday for the first of three days of testing at the Jerez circuit in Spain.
