James Toseland praises Colin Edwards after Donington podium

James Toseland praised Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team-mate Colin Edwards after the American stormed to a brilliant podium finish in last weekend’s British MotoGP race.
Edwards claimed his first podium for 13 months at the Leicestershire circuit when he produced a stunning fightback in tricky conditions to claim second place.
He’d been as low as 15th on the opening lap and at one stage was close to 30 seconds off the lead before he produced a thrilling surge through the pack to finish less than two seconds away from eventual winner Andrea Dovizioso.
One rider who Edwards passed on his way through the field was Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team-mate Toseland.
The British rider came close to a milestone of his own in front of a massive crowd of nearly 90,000 when he was denied a career best fifth place following a last lap attack from reigning world champion Valentino Rossi.
But the 28-year-old praised Edwards after he scored his 11th MotoGP podium.
He told MCN: “Colin came by and I kept with him for a lap but he really got his head down. He’s been riding great all year and I take my hat off to him. Anybody that finished on the podium on those conditions massively deserved it.”
Edwards and Toseland fell out last winter after a controversial crew chief change at Tech 3 and still aren’t on speaking terms.
