James Toseland’s hopes of a strong weekend in the German MotoGP have been boosted by the arrival of new electronics for the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 YZR-M1 rider.

Toseland and American team-mate Colin Edwards will have Yamaha’s successful anti-wheelie system available for the first time this weekend at the Sachsenring.

The system has been used by factory duo Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo since the third round of the campaign in Jerez. Speaking to MCN, 28-year-old Toseland said the arrival of the new parts was a clear indication that Yamaha still saw him as part of its premier class future.

“It’s great because as soon as I found out it put a big smile on my face because every little thing helps. I’ve heard good things about the anti-wheelie system in terms of helping acceleration and also at the start.

“Again it shows that Yamaha has got a plan to get me up there and help me keep my job. I just need to repay their faith with some results.” Toseland, who suffered a nightmare American GP in Laguna Seca when he was black-flagged for failing to stop for a ride through penalty, said it was vital he got a good result in Germany this weekend to gain confidence ahead of his home race in Donington Park on July 26.

“Donington is a massive weekend for me and it would be great to go there with a bit of confidence, so I’m looking for a good result this weekend, “said the double World Superbike champion.
