Bradley Smith ended a weather-hit two-day Valencia 125GP test session with the third fastest time, while fellow British rider Scott Redding was just one place further back in fourth.

Aspar Aprilia rider Smith, who opted to sit out a rain-hit first day, completed 47 laps in cold conditions on his way to clocking a best time of 1.42.258.

That was just four-hundreths-of-a-second faster than Gloucestershire rider Redding, who ended with a best of 1.42.290 in the 57 laps he managed before more rain cut the test short by four hours.

In unstoppable form again at the top of the timesheets was Spaniard Julian Simon. Smith’s Aspar Aprilia team-mate has now set the fastest time on each of the five days testing so far in 2009.

Simon beat Sergio Gadea into second with a best lap of 1.41.839 even though he only completed 28 laps.
