Indy MotoGP: Suzuki to run new chassis

Loris Capirossi and Chris Vermeulen will run a new chassis on their factory Suzuki GSV-R machines in Indianapolis this weekend.

Both tried the new frame during the recent one-day test session in Brno and will have one each available for this weekend’s clash in America.

Capirossi, who has signed a new Suzuki deal, which will be announced this weekend in Indianapolis, finished fourth quickest in the Czech Republic test while evaluating the new chassis.

Suzuki team boss Paul Denning told MCN: “The new chassis will certainly be used in the next race simply because we’ve got nothing to lose and we need to look to the future.

“We’re looking to improve one of our problem areas by increasing edge grip. We need to create more mechanical grip, particularly in colder conditions.

“In Barcelona and Brno where there was good grip we have been reasonably competitive.

“But in the Sachsenring and Donington where it was cooler we really struggled and that showed.”
