Rider V Computer

Well, I wonder why someone hasn’t stepped up, in defence of the new school of MotoGP riders, with their computers designed how go into turns and speed set ups for each track.

It seems like they can enter a turn at 90mph, with open throttle, the bike computer might be set for 85mph, and as soon they get through this calculated speed turn, the bike adjustment, goes back to rider accelerator choices.

Don’t get it twisted, the riders that they have now are the best in the world, for setting the bike up so that it fits their size, and riding style, the rest looks like they just stear and hang on.

They don’t seem to have to wrestle with the machinery, like the old school 500’s you don’t see the nuts it used to take to ride machinary that was trying to throw you off in the corners, that is what most likely seperated those riders r from world champions, riding skills, not computer set-ups.

My case in point: Michael Schumacher, Formula one champion, got on a MotoGP motorcycle from last season, ran 40+laps and had the second fastest time of the day. Ex-500gp champions in their 40’s, are getting out on these same bikes, non-setups, are turning times equal to the whole field.

I still say, it took a man of skill, like, Hailwood, Ago, Read, Redman, any of the 500cc Champions, ask Rossi whether he likes the newer setup, or the old fire breathing 2-strokes, one you’ve got to ride, the other you have to hold on.

There is in my estimation [which of course counts for only one vote] only two or three riders have what I call, “IT”, Rossi, Biaggi, Dani Pedrosa, they have the nuts and skills to have hung with, let’s say, Eddie Lawson, Doohan, or Jarno Saarinen the first to ride corners with his body hanging off the bike, with his knee on the ground.

It is claimed that Kenny Roberts later perfected the style of Jarno. Jarno’s style is predominately what is used today. Tragedy in 1973 in an Milan race, snuffed out his life .
