Assen MotoGP: Marco Simoncelli tops 250 second free practice

Marco Simoncelli was the fastest man on track in Assen for the second 250 free practice this morning.

Simoncelli traded places at the top of the timesheets with eventual third placed Hector Barbera on the Team Toth Aprilia, but with nine minutes of the session remaining Simoncelli lapped the Assen circuit in 1:41.593 and then continued to improve on this until his final lap was recorded at 1:40.948.

Provisional pole man Alvaro Bautista finished the session in second place with a 1:41.091.

Ireland’s Eugene Laverty finished the session in 19th place with a best lap of 1:43.770.
