Italian MotoGP: Valentino Rossi wins, James Toseland sixth

1 of 1

Valentino Rossi has taken the win at the Italian MotoGP with James Toseland taking a solid sixth.

Rossi’s win means that he has won every race at the Mugello circuit since 2002 and has taken his third win in a row this year.

The Italian got a solid start, getting fifth place off the line, and proceeded to work his way through the field to take the lead from Ducati man Casey Stoner on the third lap.

No matter what Stoner and third placed  Dani Pedrosa tried Rossi continued to stretch out his lead, giving the other two no chance to come back.

James Toseland started the race in 11th but managed to work his way through the field with team-mate Colin Edwards to get up to fifth place, but with 9 laps to go Edwards slid in front to leave Toseland with 6th at the flag.
