Ducati unveil 200mph MotoGP ice racer!

Ducati marked the launch of its 2008 MotoGP world championship campaign in amazing fashion by rolling out a 200mph MotoGP ice racer!

Test and development rider Vittoriano Guareschi stunned fans last night at Ducati’s traditional season launch in Madonna di Campiglio when he rode a factory GP7 on an ice rink in the middle of the top Italian ski resort.

Guareschi completed a handful of laps around the ice rink on a GP7 that had Bridgestone tyres fitted with special spikes, normally used for ice speedway.

Guareschi said: “It was a wild ride. When Ducati first asked me about it I thought they were crazy but it was really good fun. There can’t be many riders who have ridden a MotoGP bike with over 200 horsepower on an ice rink. I normally prefer a bit more traction though.”

Ducati duo Casey Stoner and Marco Melandri have just completed press conferences with the world’s media before the official launch of the 2008 GP8 machine in the spectacular Alps location.

More from the launch on www.motorcyclenews.com tomorrow.
