Misano MotoGP: Stoner tops the time sheets again in second free practice

Aussie Casey Stoner has stayed on typical good form this afternoon and finished at the top of the time sheets once again in the second MotoGP free practice session.

The Ducati Marlboro Team rider finished the session with a best lap time of 1’34.806, four tenths of a second faster than his Italian rival Valentino Rossi.

The no. 46 rider isn’t going to settle for second place though. Valentino Rossi just needs one more win to equal legendary racer Giacomo Agostini’s record of 68 victories and obviously he’d love to do it on Sunday in front of his home crowd.

Third place went to MotoGP veteran Loris Capirossi, who incidentally looks set to break the record for the number of GP appearances this Sunday. The Italian posted a time of 1’35.377 for the Rizla Suzuki Team.

Randy De Puniet took 4th on his LCR Honda, leaving Chris Vermeulen in 5th and Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo in 6th place.

Despite finishing up in 2nd place behind Stoner in this morning’s practice, Edwards only placed 8th this time around with his team mate James Toseland finishing close behind in 10th.

Nicky Hayden is riding injured today after his supermoto spill at the X Games, so he did well to place 11th just 1.383 seconds off the pace set by Stoner.
