Estoril MotoGP: Jorge Lorenzo continues form for provisional 250 pole on Sunday

Aprilia’s Jorge Lorenzo carried his impressive form in to this afternoon’s qualifying session to record provisional pole for Sunday’s 250 race.

The Spaniard knocked almost a second off his best time from this morning to record a 1:40.480 at the Portuguese circuit.

Jorge Lorenzo spent most of the session vying for the top spot with Honda’s Andrea Dovizioso as the pair kept beating each other’s lead times.

Dovizioso finished the session in second position with his best at 1:40.824 while KTM rider Mika Kallio returned to form in third with a 1:40.893.

Ireland’s Eugene Laverty and Britain’s Dan Linfoot finished in 23rd and 24th places respectively again but did manage to knock more than a second of each of their times from earlier.

New British 250 rider Luke Lawrence will have to improve on his 1:49.465 in the second qualifying session tomorrow if he is to make the grid on Sunday as he missed the 109 per cent time.
