MotoGP Jerez Test: Jorge Lorenzo escapes injury in high-speed crash

1 of 1

Double world 250 champion Jorge Lorenzo has escaped injury in a crash at the start of the second afternoon’s testing in Jerez.

The Spaniard crashed at the same corner that saw world champion Casey Stoner take a heavy tumble at yesterday, but he walked away and was taken back to his Fiat Yamaha garage on the back of a marshal’s scooter.

Lorenzo crashed at the fast Alex Criville right-hand corner – Turn 11.

The crash closed the track for just over five minutes with Lorenzo ninth fastest.
Casey Stoner was again fastest, logging a 1.41.031 in just six laps this morning.

Colin Edwards is currently second with Valentino Rossi third quickest as he continues his impressive start on Bridgestone tyres.

British rider James Toseland is fifth quickest, posting a best time of 1.41.563 in his 15-laps completed so far.

That has already beaten his best time from yesterday by 0.2s as he continues to make big strides on only his second appearance on board the Tech 3 Yamaha YZR-M1.
