British MotoGP: Bradley Smith sixth quickest in rain lashed 125 MotoGP session

British teenager Bradley Smith ended a rain-lashed opening 125 MotoGP free practice session with the sixth fastest time at Donington Park. 

The Repsol Honda rider was one of several crashers as the 2.5miles circuit was hit by torrential rain that made riding conditions treacherous.

Bradley Smith escaped injury in the high-speed crash at the Schwantz Curve to register a best time of 1.58.599 which left him 3.394s behind Hungarian Gabor Talmacsi (Aprilia) who clocked the best time of 1.55.205.

Mike Di Meglio (Honda) was second fastest with a best time of 1.55.410 that left the French rider 0.205s adrift of Gabor Talmacsi. There was a massive gap then to third place with the Federico Sandi 3.168s behind Talmacsi.

British 125 MotoGP regular Danny Webb (Honda) finished 32nd fastest while Nikki Coates (Honda) was the fastest wild card in 28th place. He clocked a best of 2.03.120 in the 12 laps he completed.
