Faubel secures pole for 125s at Mugello

Hector Faubel has secured pole position for tomorrow’s 125 race in Mugello after setting the fastest lap in the first of the two qualifying sessions.

The Honda rider, who was only 20th in the second qualifying practice, had wrapped up his best lap yesterday afternoon and it was enough to put him on the front of the grid.

Surprise package of the weekend Mike Di Meglio has landed second spot on his Aprilia after recording a best time over the two sessions.

The Hugarian’s best weekend this season has been qualifying 10th and finishing ninth in the race at Le Mans. But his time of 2:16.053 was good enough to get him on the front row.

Winner from the Spanish Grand Prix, Gabor Talmacsi, is in third place after his 2:18.750 while Italian Dino Lomardi rounds off the front row for his home race.

Bradley Smith was the fastest of the two British riders in 11th place with a best time of 2:20.352 while Danny Webb will start from 29th after his best of 2:25.674.

Times were slow again today as the forecasted rain fell on the Italian circuit.
