British GP: Andrea Dovizioso goes fastest in 250 FP1 at a damp Donington Park

1 of 1

Koporon Team Scott Honda rider Andrea Dovizioso put in the fastest time of the first 250 practice session from the British GP, leading his closest rival by three tenths of a second.

In the last ten minutes of the morning session three riders continuously changed position; Dovizioso, Alvaro Bautista and Hiroshi Aoyama.

With just three minutes left Bautista went to the top with a 1.46.910 but was toppled moments later by Dovizioso who crossed the line seconds later scoring a 1.46.134.

Bautista edged closer next time round with a 1.46.873 on his Master Aprilia but was relegated another place by Aoyama on his KTM who put in a lap of 1.46.862 at the chequered flag.

Bautista squeezed in one more lap and jumped ahead of Aoyama on the timing sheets with a 1.46.440 but was still three tenths slower than Dovizioso.

Bautista’s team-mate Alex De Angelis had a less eventful session, highsiding at the first of the double apexes at Coppice half way through the hour long practice.

Hector Barbera also had a spill, Shuhei Aoyama ran off exiting Coppice and British hopeful Eugene Laverty lowsided at Redgate with 24 minutes remaining after a promising start to the session.
