German MotoGP: Pole man Gabor Talmacsi wins 125 race at Sachsenring

1 of 1

Pole man Gabor Talmacsi rode the perfect race at the Sachsenring this morning to take victory in the 125s.

The Hungarian led from the start and kept pushing throughout the leave a gap and the fighting behind him.

The ride of the day came from Hapan’s Tomoyoshi Koyama who fought his way through the pack from 15th on the grid. The KTM rider gained a few places in the first couple of laps and then gradually made his way to fifth where he stayed for much of the race.

From here he cut through to fourth and began to reel in third placed Hector Faubel. Tomoyoshi closed the gap between himself and the Aprilia rider before claiming the last podium place on lap 20.

But this was not enough and he continued to push on with Simone Corsi his next target. Tomoyoshi Koyama caught and passed Corsi on lap 22 to take a surprise second for himself ahead of Spaniard Haector Faubel.

Britain’s Bradley Smith continued his brave comeback from injury with a eighth place. After starting from the front row of the grid he struggled to keep up with the front men going to seventh from the start.

He then settled in with the battle for ninth with Michael Ranseder (Derbi) and Pablo Nieto (Aprilia) as they swapped places between ninth and 11th. Bradley Smith was set for ninth until Sergio Gadea’s last lap retirement saw the Oxfordshire rider benefit an extra place.

Britain’s second rider Daniel Webb finished 27th.

Second placed man on the grid Mattia Pasini’s race was ruined from the start as he came together with two other riders at the first corner. All three managed to get back on the track but Aprilia rider Pasini was forced to retire on lap 11.
