Jezza steps up training

Jeremy McWilliams is hoping to resume full training again by the middle of January.

The British veteran, who is back in MotoGP in 2007 with the new Ilmor squad, reckons he should have recovered from the multiple injuries he suffered in a testing crash in late November to start his rigorous training schedule shortly.

The 42-year-old said: “Over the next couple of weeks I’m not thinking about anything else other than getting fit again.

“I’m going to the La Manga resort in Spain after Christmas, and it would be nice to start some gentle training down there. “The idea is to get on an exercise bike as soon as possible. Fingers crossed I can start light training soon and I’m doing loads of physio at the moment.

“Muscles do waste whenever you’ve had a bit of an off but it’s just like anything else, the more positive you are then the easier it is to recover. I should be back in full training by mid-January.”
