Pitt waits on new parts

Andrew Pitt is hoping that vital engine upgrades for the struggling Ilmor 800 arrive in time for this weekend’s final IRTA test in Jerez.

Pitt and team-mate Jeremy McWilliams are waiting on a new 2007-spec V4 motor to help cure some of the aggressive power delivery problems that have dogged the new British project since its inception.

A new motor is in the pipeline but when it will be ready is still up in the air.

Pitt told us: “We are definitely all waiting for the engine updates but whether that arrives in Jerez this weekend or whether it will be at the first race or the Jerez race, but that’s what we are waiting for.

“That’s what we’ve been asking for so hopefully it’s going to be what we need.”
