Edwards continues form

Texan Colin Edwards has continued to outpace his MotoGP rivals on race tyres in Qatar today.

While John Hopkins topped the timesheets this morning, the factory Suzuki riders best time came on a Bridgestone qualifying tyre.

In the 30 laps he completed this morning, Edwards clocked a best of 1.56.371 on Michelin race rubber, which was just 0.1s outside of his best time so far at the test in race trim.

Edwards has also done a long run of 13 laps this morning but he only managed one under the 1.57 barrier as he clocked a 1.56.682 on lap six.

Several riders are undertaking full race simulations today to get crucial set-up and tyre information for the first race back in Qatar on March 10, 2007.

Aussie Casey Stoner has completed an 18-lap run this morning with a best time of 1.57.086, which is just 0.1s slower than his best so far that he set on the opening day.

Chris Vermeulen completed a full 22-lap race distance with a best of 1.57.61.

Loris Capirossi has also run a full Qatar GP length simulation and his best time was a 1.57.52 as he lapped consistently in the mid to high 57s despite complaints about Bridgestone front tyre grip problems.

Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa are expecting to attempt simulations this afternoon.
